Local Writing groups to read at a fundraiser on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, for Valleytown Cultural Arts and Historical Society, Andrews, NC


 

Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 6 PM, NCWN-West, along with Ridgeline Literary Alliance, will read original poetry and prose as the entertainment at a fundraiser for Valleytown Cultural Arts and Historical Society, Andrews NC.

This is a new adventure, to build an alliance between the writing community and the arts association in Andrews, NC.  

Six writers, all belonging to both Ridgeline and NCWN-West, will read their work:

Loren Leith
Mary Ricketson
Jim Davis
Natalie Grant
Joan Howard
Ryvers Stewart

The event includes a wine tasting and live music, at Valleytown Cultural Arts Center, 125 Chestnut St, Andrews NC 28901
Tickets will be on sale soon, $15 per person.

More publicity will be available from the arts association soon.

Return of the Old Time Radio Show, hosted by Ridgeline Literary Alliance and Cherokee Co. Arts Council, Saturday, February 17, 2018, in Murphy, NC

Old Time Radio Show Returns!

Old Time Radio Show returns Saturday February 17, 2018, at 2 PM, at the Murphy Art Center, 33 Valley River Ave, Murphy, NC, in the Cultural Calendar Room. Ridgeline Literary Alliance, a group of local writers, has teamed up with the Arts Council to present an afternoon of live entertainment, free to the public. Come one, come all, no reservations needed. 

Original stories by Loren Leith of Andrews provide the scripts for three humorous and poignant radio shows, a rare taste of entertainment from the era before television. The cast, members of Ridgeline Literary Alliance and Cherokee County Arts Council, are among the best of local talent.
Author members of Ridgeline Literary Alliance will read short segments of their best writing.

Come to this fun filled event provided by your own local artists in the comfort of Murphy Arts Center, downtown Murphy, NC.

Old Time Radio Show to be hosted by Ridgeline Literary Alliance and the Cherokee Arts Council, on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the Murphy Art Center, Murphy, NC


Ridgeline Literary Alliance and the Cherokee County Arts Council  Present:

Old Time Radio Show and readings of prose and poetry

When: Saturday, 10-21-17, 2 pm, at Murphy Art Center (MAC),

Where: 33 Valley River Ave, Murphy NC 28906.

FREE:  Come one come all!

Light refreshments provided by the arts council

The agenda includes 2 old time radio shows (short) complete with props and sound effects, scripts adapted from Bob Grove essays. 8 to 10 Ridgeline members will read original work for 3-5 minutes each.

Cherokee County Arts Council is headed by David Vowell of Brasstown. He and another actor, Ryan Bender drama teacher at The Learning Center, will perform roles in the radio shows. The other roles are filled by Ridgeline members.

The arts council joins with Ridgeline Literary Alliance to provide a literary aspect of their artistic presence in the local community. Ridgeline Literary Alliance is a group for serious writers of any genre.

Poetry & Prose reading sponsored by Ridgeline Literary Alliance & North Carolina Poetry Society, featuring poet Shelby Stephenson, at Moss Memorial Library, Hayesville, NC., Sat., May 7th, at 2:00 PM


North Carolina’s Poet Laureate Shelby Stephenson returns to the western mountains of NC to read his award-winning poems. Local writers David Brown, multiple-award-winning publisher of the Cherokee Scout and associated newspapers; and Bob Grove, founder and publisher of Monitoring Times Magazine and prose critique facilitator for the North Carolina Writers’ Network, will follow with their original works.

At the conclusion of the scheduled readings, an open mic session will be available for RLA members and anyone in attendance who wishes to read.

This exciting literary event is scheduled for May 7, 2016, at the Moss Memorial Library, 26 Anderson Street in Hayesville, NC, and will run from 2:00 p.m. through approximately 4:00 p.m. There is no cost and all ages are welcome.
