Hello everyone, my name is Matt and it's nice to be apart of your group. I always enjoy writing poems for people to enjoy and with Open Mic being almost a thing of the past, having a nice blog eases the pain of not seeing old friends. For those who don't much about me, I'm a graduated of WCU's professional writing program with a dash of film studies and was a regular at City Lights' Open Mic night until last year.
I enjoy writing poetry and fiction stories in my spare time. My poems are either using a person's or object's name to go through the alphabet to create an affectionate story or using song titles to create an odd message of hope. The latter is often harder to do if there is a limited discography or the titles are very generic and hard to pick out from the sentence they hide inside. As for fiction stories, I'm trying to finish one involving a magician who stumbles across Scooby Doo like cases, but with a much higher amount of danger. If anyone would like to read a few chapters, please let me know.
I can't wait to meet everyone when the time comes and hopefully we can grow together. I also hope that we can get past the pandemic and meet in person because while I'm nervous around new people, sharing ideas makes the first plunge into the water not as bad. Keep believing in yourselves and your new friend and I'm sure that we'll get along fine.
Welcome! Can't wait to hear you read and to meet you someday soon! Thanks for introducing yourself. -- Karen
