Coffee with the Poets and Writers

Wednesday we had a good crowd at Blue Mountain Coffee and Grill for our monthly meeting sponsored by NCWN West. I can hardly believe it was seven years ago that we began Coffee with the Poets at Phillips and Lloyd books on the square in Hayesville, NC.

Here are a few photos from way back then:
Karen Holmes reads. Clarence Newton listens.

Visitors

This week our featured Netwest member was Lucy Cole Gratton who gave a great reading, mixing up some thought provoking verses with humorous poems.

Besides the regular group, we had four visitors. One was Eva Maiden from California. Her son lives in Blairsville, Georgia so she visits the area from time to time. Eva published a memoir on Create Space about her childhood in Austria during the frightening period of the Second World War.
I’ve heard it is an excellent read.

Ten of us stayed for lunch and enjoyed the time to socialize. Put next month’s meeting, second Wednesday, on your calendar now. Carole Thompson, author of Enough, published by FutureCycle Press, will read for us.

Visit the Netwest website, www.ncwriters-west.org for more writing events in the area.

I read it, and it's very good. I believe that it will soon be available at the Curiosity Shop.
