North Carolina Writers' Network West is often shortened to Netwest.
NCWN-West is a program of the North Carolina Writers' Network, a state literary organization comprised of more than 1500 members. It was formed in the 1980's in an effort to bring the writers in the southwestern rural areas of the state closer to each other and to the literary world of North Carolina.
Members of the state organization who live within the far southwestern counties of North Carolina (Clay, Cherokee, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Swain, Transylvania, the Qualla Boundary) and bordering counties in South Carolina, Georgia, and East Tennessee automatically become members of NCWN-West (Netwest).
